Buyer's Remorse

Analysis Paralysis

'Just Do It'

Committing to a choice, especially an expensive choice can be really hard, there could always be a better option for your money. This constant questioning of one’s self leads to a paralysis where you can’t decide what to choose, eventually leading to a decision you don’t really want, experiencing buyers remorse, so much guilt and regret. This is something I personally experience, I wanted to visually represent this struggle through the act of deciding and buying a pair of shoes. With so many brands today how does anyone choose? I incorporated the idiom 'plenty of fish in the sea', eventually the right pair will find its way to you.

A pair of New Balances I ambiguously bought off Ebay for really cheap, ended up regretting the decision because the pair, unique for it's design and rare for it's limited availability, turned out be a size too small for me, now a sitting reminder of my poor decision-making.

By creating a shoe from 4 iconic brands and using the iconic Nike phrase; ‘Just do it’, I created the piece above. This iconic phrase from Nike, meant to inspire, motivate and connect with consumers, overthinking or unable to make a decision? ‘Just do it’, in this case it's buy the shoes and just get it over with. I experimented with half-tone lines and wave/ripple effects to create this memorising pattern almost like the piece is trying to hypnotise the viewer into buying the product, in essence what advertisements are trying to achieve.
